Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Announced with Large Cover Display and IPX8 Rating

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 was the second foldable phone to be announced by Samsung on Tuesday at its Galaxy Unpacked event after the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

The Flip 3 is IPX8 certified as well for water resistance and brings improvements in display and frame.

Just like the Fold 3, the Flip 3 is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on its exterior and Armor Aluminum frame.

The phone weighs 183g just like its predecessor but is now 1.3mm shorter, 1.4mm narrower, and 0.3mm thinner.

Beginning with the display, the Flip 3 has a large 1.9” Super AMOLED cover screen with a 260×512 resolution.

This means notifications are seen easily and more apps can be accessed without actually opening the phone.

The inside screen of the foldable panel maintains the 6.7” Dynamic AMOLED with Full HD+ resolution as its predecessor but it now has a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.

Moving to the camera, there is a dual setup next to the cover screen with a 12MP f/1.8 main shooter 1.4µm pixels, Dual Pixel AF and OIS, as and also another 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera.

Below the vertically positioned cameras is a LED flash. On the main display is a punch hole with a 10MP f/2.4 camera.

Moving to the hardware, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is powered by a 5nm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with an 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

In terms of connectivity, the foldable phone is 5G enabled and it supports both the Sub6 and mmWave 5G flavours.

The battery capacity remains unchanged at 3,300mAh as well as the 15W fast charge.

Pre-orders are underway already and the phone will be available in seven colours – Cream, Green, Lavender, Phantom Black, Gray, White, and Pink.

Pricing begins at €1,049 or £949 in Europe for the base 8GB/128GB memory configuration, while the 8GB/256GB storage will set you back by €1,099 or £999.
