“Inconsequential” – LP Campaign Reacts To ThisDay 2023 Election Result Projection

The Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council says its flagbearer, Peter Obi, will win the 2023 election on the first ballot.

Naija News reports the council also disagreed with a projection of results for the 2023 presidential election which was released by ThisDay newspaper on Tuesday.

Recall that the ThisDay 2023 Election Centre released a projection that analyzed a possible outcome of the 2023 presidential election and key states the major candidates may win.

According to the poll analysis, with the 2023 general elections less than two months away, there are tendencies that there would be a presidential run-off.

The analysis showed the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, coming clear with massive votes in 21 states with the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, also hopeful of garnering massive votes from 20 states.

The stats also showed the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, coming fourth behind the LP flagbearer.

In a chat with Leadership on Tuesday evening, the spokesman of the LP campaign council, Dr Yunusa Tanko, said the party’s target is to win the 2023 presidential poll on the first ballot.

Tanko added that the party had been reaching out to every Nigerian to ensure that they win the election on the first ballot, adding that there will be no run-off as predicted by ThisDay.

He said: “That is our target. We will win in the first ballot. We don’t want to have an argument. That’s why we are reaching out to the electorates to ensure that we win the election.

“We don’t want to have an argument. Our target is to win in the first ballot and we are going to win by the grace of God.”

Also speaking, a high-ranking member of the LP campaign council who pleaded anonymity said Obi will get the required 25 percent in 24 states with the support of the majority of Nigerians.

He said the feedback obtained by the Labour Party intelligentsia suggests that Obi’s performance surpasses most predictions made by the Thisday projection.

The LP chieftain added that the percentage of votes assigned to the party in most of the zones is not correct.
