On Tuesday at its Peek Performance event, Apple announced a refreshed iPhone SE powered by its powerful A15 Bionic chip and with support for sub-6GHz 5G. The 2023 iPhone SE is the third generation in the series and has a starting price of $429.

The new iPhone keeps the home button and maintains the same form factor as the 2022 model with a 4.7-inch display and noticeable bezels. The iPhone now has a better battery life than its predecessor thanks to the A15 Bionic chip which powers the iPhone 13 series. Apple says the 2023 iPhone SE will provide up to 15 hours of video playback, up to 10 hours of streaming video playback, and up to 50 hours of audio playback.

The iPhone SE will be available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage models. Colour options are midnight, starlight, and (PRODUCT) RED. At the back, the iPhone has a 12MP f/1.8 aperture Wide camera with computational photography improvements such as Smart HDR 4, Photographic Styles, Deep Fusion, and Portrait mode, all thanks to the A15 processor.

The new iPhone SE is water and dust resistance thanks to its IP67 rating, it has a Touch ID for unlocking and easing access to authorizing purchases and transactions. The phone is made with recycled materials bringing Apple closer to its goal of removing plastic packaging for its products by 2025.

Pre-orders for the iPhone SE 2023 begin this Friday, 6 11, and the phone will be available one week later beginning Friday, January 1 . Pricing starts at $429, that’s $30 more than the 2022 model.
