9th Kwara State House Of Assembly Leader, Mogaji Is Dead

The leader of the 9th Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Olawoyin Mogaji, has died.

learnt that the lawmaker died after battling a long protracted illness. Olawoyin was also the All Progressives Candidate (APC) candidate of his constituency for the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Olawoyin had contested the Ilorin Central Constituency ticket alongside Toyin Agaka on the platform of the ruling APC and won.

The deceased’s victory was challenged earlier by Agaka who asked party members and stakeholders to shun the incumbent lawmaker. He argued that no election was held yet at the Pacific Hotel, Ilorin, the state capital where the contest was billed to take place then.

In other news, the Governorship candidate of APC in Benue State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has said that the terrible situation in the state made him quit the pulpit and join politics.

The Catholic Church priest explained that he had a goal to turn around the state into a better place and liberate the people from poverty.

Alia stated this on Sunday in a press briefing at Makurdi. According to him, he intends to lift the people of Benue from poverty.

He said, “I have a good cause to step out from the podium (pulpit) to do what I am doing because our state is in bad shape. We have a responsibility to bring betterment for our state.

“Benue is too rich to be poor, to do anything less will be not to appreciate what God has done for us. My government will be centred on seven pillars – the foremost is to secure lives and property.”

Unveiling his blueprint, the clergyman said that his security plan would evolve a policy resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons, strengthen the implementation of the state’s anti-open grazing law, and introduce the use of automated security systems, among others to tackle the insecurity in the state.
