Ahmed was born on October 14, 1992, in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria to a multi-religious family. His mother Sarah Musa (née Moses) is a Christian from Edo State in the Southern part of Nigeria while his father hails from the North.

Early Life and Education

Ahmed Musa was born on the 14th of October, 1992, in the city of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, to Alhaji Musa and Sarah Moses. His mother, his father’s second wife, is an Edo State-born Christian, and his father is a Muslim, hailing from the state of Borno in northern Nigeria. 


Musa’s mother was the only person to raise him and his four older sisters after his unexpected death when he was a child. Musa’s mother encouraged him to pursue his dream of playing professional football after realising how talented he was at a young age when he was playing with Aminchi Football Club.

Ahmed Musa Career

In September 2007, a local publication in Jos featured Musa on its Undiscovered Talent column. In 2008, he was loaned to JUTH F.C. where he played 18 games,

scoring four goals in his first two professional seasons for the Healers. He was subsequently loaned to Kano Pillars F.C., in the 2009–10 season where he set the league record scoring multiple crucial goals as Pillars finished second. 

Musa held the record for the highest goals ever scored in one season in the history of the Nigeria Premier League until November 2011 when Jude Aneke of Kaduna United F.C. set a new record of 20 goals.

Ahmed Musa began his career at GBS Football Academy. Musa was loaned to JUTH FC and Kano Pillars FC very early in his career.


In the 2009-2010 season, he set the league record by scoring important goals for Kano Pillars.


Musa held the record of the most goals scored in a season in the NPFL until November 2011.


Musa Joined Dutch club VVV-Venlo in 2010 but was not permitted to play because he was 17 years and wasn’t eligible as per FIFA rules. He was later allowed to play in October 2010 after he turned 18 years.


In January 2012, Musa signed for CSKA Moscow for an undisclosed fee.


He spent four seasons (2012-2016) at the Russian club and scored 42 goals in 125 appearances.


In 2016, Musa joined Leicester City for a club record fee of £16.6 million. He scored his first goals with the club in a friendly against Barcelona in the 2016 International Champions Cup which ended in a 4–2 loss.


In January 2018, Musa returned to CSKA Moscow on laon for the remainder of the 2017-2018 season. On 4 August 2018, Musa moved to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr on a permanent deal. He left the club after two years.


In April 2021, Musa rejoined Kano Pillars FC for the remainder of the 2020-2021 season.
