Early Life & Education
Zainab Balogun was born on the 10th of October, 1989, in London, to a Nigerian parent. She was nurtured by a big extended family, in Clapham, an area in South West London. She comes from the Egba tribe and hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State. Zainab Balogun moved around a lot and spent most of her years growing up with relatives because of the nature of her mother’s work.
Zainab Balogun attended Sacred Heart RC Secondary School for her secondary school studies. She started participating regularly in talent events and school plays, which sparked her passion for acting. She majored in music, eventually joined the school choir, and then established Regné with two friends as an R&B girl group. Zainab pursued her A Levels in law, psychology, and English language and literature at Christ the King Sixth Form College. She went further to the University of Kent in Medway, where she graduated with a degree in law (LLB).
Career
Zainab Balogun began her career at the age of 16 after She was scouted by Premiers Model Management. After her University education, she appeared in different TV shows like BBC One’s Material Girl, The Charlatans by Ashley Waters, and even in a Bollywood movie titled ‘Cocktail’ in 2012.
She also acted in the movie, Dark Knight Rises in 2011 and had the opportunity to work with a world-class director, Christopher Nolan.
Zainab still features in movies to date and her recent role was in Charge and Bail, which was released in 2021. As of now, she produces and hosts a series of shows for EbonyLife TV.
At the moment, Zainab is a co-host on a TV show named The Spot, it is a daily talk show and is also co-hosted by the famous Ebuka Obi-Uchendu of Big Brother Naija and Lamide Akintobi.
Speaking about awards and nominations, Zainab has got quite a number of them. In 2013 She won the TV Presenter of the Year Award at the Exquisite Lady of the Year Awards. The Sisterhood Awards also gave her one in 2014 in the same category as the former. She won the Sexiest On-Air Personality in 2014 at the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards. Her latest award was in 2018 when She won the Prize for Acting Award at the Future Awards Africa, TFAA.
Personal life
In May 2018 Zainab married Dikko Nwachukwu; Founder of Jetwest Airways. The pair got traditionally married on Sunday 13th May in Lagos, Nigeria. She splits her time between London, England, and Lagos, Nigeria.
