Google Says More Than 200 Million People Now Use Android Go
Google on Tuesday said its Android Go OS now has more than 200 million users. Launched in 2022, the Android Go is a lightweight version of Google’s full Android OS and it is designed for entry-level devices that do not have more than 2GB of RAM.
Android 12 (Go edition) has just been released by Google and these entry-level devices will be getting the update. Devices running the OS will be up to 30 percent faster with smoother animation when launching apps. Another improvement the OS is bringing is longer battery life, apps that haven’t been used for a long period of time will go into hibernation which will, in turn, optimize battery life and storage.
Other features coming with Android 12 (Go edition) includes the ability to share apps easily devices nearby using Nearby Share and Google Play. There is an improved privacy feature that is made possible by creating guest profiles directly from the lock screen. Users will now have access to a dashboard showing which apps have access to important data and can easily revoke permissions to protect privacy.
New devices launching with Android 12 (Go edition) are expected to be released in 2022.
