General Pype Career
In the 1990s, Pype started making music while he was still in school. He joined a classical group of 30 people. The group played with Pype (who used to be called Majek) in several places, including Abuja’s Eagle Square. He left the group to work on other kinds of music.
His manager gave him the name “Pype,” which stands for “Prolific Youth Positive Entertainer.” By 2005, he was known as a dancehall and reggae performer. Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Barry White, Majek Fashek, Barry White, Supercat, Don Carlos, and Sizzla, Barrington Levy, Bob Marley, and Sean Paul are some of the musicians whose music he likes.
“The Shield,” an American TV show from 2007, used his song “Keep it Cool.” Give it to Me (2012) and Champion (2013) were big hits all over the country (2009). General has won a lot of awards, but the 2010 Channel O Music Video Award for Best Dancehall/Ragga Video is the one that stands out the most.
Through good partnerships, he is bringing dancehall and reggae music to the mainstream in Nigeria while keeping his own style as a dynamic artist. Thanks to his unique touch, the sounds of highlife pioneer Sunny Neji (“Crush”), hip-hop diva Sasha (“Strong thin”), Niyola (“Mo Ranyan”), MI (“teaser”), and Sheyman (“Showa remix”) got a shot of adrenaline.
People called him a “song stylist” because everything he touched turned to gold. Since then, his infectious excitement on more than 120 collaborations, most of which he freestyled between 2008 and 2009, has hypnotised music fans. He wants to make music that “makes people think, dance, and move.”
