Early Life & Education
Yung6ix was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Warri, Delta State, a state in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. He is the first child of his parent and has 4 other younger siblings. Yung6ix also grew up in Warri, where he has his Primary education. He went further to Federal Government College in Warri for his secondary school education. He attended Oduduwa University, Ile Ife for his tertiary education.
Career
Yung6ix’s passion for the art never dropped one bit, as he was to join a record label after relocating to Lagos State. He came to prominence in 2009 when his single “I am African” gained the admiration of Gbemi Ereku, who signed him into his label 411 Entertainment Company.
His fame spread further in 2010, when he did a cover of the trending song ‘Oleku’ which went viral on Net. Yung6ix released another single ‘So Far Gone’ which featured the rave of the time P.Fizzy, from his later to be released mixtape ‘Green Light Green’.
‘So Far Gone’ was his freestyle of ‘This Plane’ by Wiz Khalifa’. Yung6ix’s other single ‘Plenty Money’ garnered a lot of raves also and was officially premiered on radio 99.9 The Beat FM. An accompanying video to the single was shot soon afterwards.
Yung6ix had his first major breakthrough in April 2011 when the record label, 411 Entertainment entered into a deal with another big firm, Storm Records. The joint venture would later serve as a catalyst to Yung6ix’s music dreams.
From his debut recorded album, he released a major collaborative single with Wizkid ‘Follow Me’ and the video of the song, directed by Bobby Boulders. Close to the fall of that year, precisely in September 2011, the singer released another single from his ‘Green Light Green’ album dubbed ‘Oh My Gosh’. The single earned him two notable recognitions; ‘Best Rap Single’ and ‘Lyricist on the Role’ nominations at Headies Awards.
