David Adeleke popularly known as Davido was born to Dr.Deji Adeleke, a Nigerian business magnate and Late Vero Adeleke (who was a University lecturer) in Atlanta, Georgia before relocating to Lagos.

Davido had his secondary school education at British International School before moving on to Oakwood University to study Business Administration. He was withdrawn from Oakwood University when he started getting bad grades and relocated to London. He returned to Nigeria in 2011 and on his father’s insistence, enrolled into Babcock University in Ogun state sidelining his music career for a while. He graduated with a degree in Music after his father paid the university to erect a Music department for an inaugural class of one.

Davido officially started doing music during his time at Oakwood University and after his withdrawal focused more on vocals instead of production. He had formerly been in a group called KB International in America but it was not working out. When he moved back to Nigeria, the household names, Wande Coal and Don Jazzy advised him on whet his next steps were going to be if he was going to make it in the music industry.
He co-founded HKM music with his brother Adewale Adeleke, a record label that was home to B.Reda and Deekay.

On May 7, 2011 he produced and released his first music recording ‘Back When’. He became popular after the release of his single ‘Dami Duro’ on October 30, 2011.

His first album “Omo Baba Olowo” was released in 2012 and from 2013-2015, Davido has released several singles like ‘Gobe’, ‘Techele’, ‘One of a kind’, ‘Owo ni koko’, ‘Skelewu’, ‘Aye’, ’Naughty’, ‘The Sound’ and ‘The money’ which were initially intended to be included in the album titled ‘The Baddest’. The third single from the ‘Baddest album’, ‘Skelewu’ was released on August 13, 2013 and  was ranked 5th on the list of top ten songs of 2013 and also peaked at number 1 on African’s Top 100 Charts. A dance competition with a cash price of $3000 was staged by Davido following the release of the song as he asks fans to upload videos of themselves dancing ‘Skelewu’.
On October, 2013, he partnered with Guinness Nigeria for the “Guinness World of More” Concert.
On February 2, 2014 Davido released ‘Aye’ which was produced by T Spice and the video which was released on February 7, 2014 was directed by Clarence Peters. 
In June 2014, Davido collaborated with Micasa, LolaRae, Sarkodie, Diamond Platinum and Tiwas Savage on a song for DSTV’s Africans rising campaign which was designed to inspire Africans partake in Community based social investment projects.

In January 2016, Davido announced on his twitter page that he signed a record deal with Sony Music and this was met with mixed reactons from his fans but a few months after signing this deal, he floated another record label (Davido Music Worldwide, DMW) after the dissolution of the record label he co-founded with his brother signing artists like Mayorkun and rapper Dremo to the label.
Davido has had international collaborations such as ‘Fans mi’ featuring Meekmill, ‘Coolest kid in Africa’ featuring Nasty C, ‘How long’ featuring Tinashee and ‘Pere’ featuring Young thug and Rae Sremmurd.

He signed an endorsement deal with MTN Nigeria In April 2012 making him the new face of MTN Pulse and another with Guinness on October 24, 2013.

Davido had an estimated net worth of $16 million in 2019. But, his talent and hard work paid off as his net worth increased to $25 million in 2020. Still, in 2021, And 2022, Davido’s had an estimated net worth of $25 million.
