New Instagram Update Gives You Two-Factor Authentication Option
After WhatsApp rolled out the update just over two weeks ago, users can now enable Instagram two-factor authentication on their accounts as well. The update which has being in testing phase for over a year has finally been rolled out.
Two-factor authentication is an extra form of security which enables added protection on the platform its being used through the information known or accessible to only its original user. This means an outsider or hacker would require more than your username or password to gain access into an account in which you’ve enabled a two-factor authentication.
How to Enable Instagram Two-Factor Authentication
Update your Instagram application to the latest version. Playstore on Android and Apple store on IOS.
Open your profile on the Instagram app.
Tap on the three parallel lines showing on top of your screen to reveal
Scroll down and tap on Two-Factor Authentication.
Switch on by toggling the white rounded icon to the right side. Tap on Turn On again.
A 6-digit confirmation code is sent to the phone number registered with your Instagram. Enter code to confirm and enable.
Some back-up codes will also be sent to you in case you lose or do not have access to your phone in the future; you should save them somewhere.
Enabling Instagram Two-Factor Authentication makes it difficult or impossible for hackers to gain access into your account. If you’ve not enabled this option on WhatsApp, read our guide on how to do that here.
