The Kano State Government has conducted the marriage ceremony of 1,800 couples in the state

The Kano State Government recently organized a mass wedding for 1,800 couples, including widows, divorcees, and spinsters, who were selected from all 44 local government areas in the state.

A total of 3,600 men and women participated in the mass wedding, which was made possible through the sponsorship of the state government. The wedding ceremony took place at the Emir’s palace and was attended by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Leader of Kwankwasiyya, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, and other prominent individuals.

Governor Yusuf commended the event, stating that it showcased the state’s commitment to promoting cultural traditions and social cohesion.

The mass wedding scheme aimed to provide couples with a memorable and cost-effective way to formalize their unions. The festivities are set to continue the following day with additional wedding ceremonies and a traditional feast, known as “Walima,” scheduled at the Government House.

The governor emphasized that the mass wedding initiative not only strengthens the bonds between couples but also demonstrates Kano State’s dedication to support and celebrate the institution of marriage.
