Early Life
Charles Awurum was born and bred in Lagos State. Lagos State is a state in the south western part of Nigeria. He is a Lagos boy, although he is not from Lagos State.
Originally, Charles is a native of Imo State. Imo State is a state in the south eastern part of Nigeria.
Charles Awurum had both his primary and secondary education in Lagos. Therein, he obtained both his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate. He is a Lagos boy after all.
On completing his elementary and secondary education, Charles proceeded his education further. He studied and bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts at the prestigious University of Calabar, Cross River State.
Career
After his education; elementary, secondary and university education as it were, Charles joined the Nigerian Nollywood movie industry.
Notably, this was in 1999. Then, he started attending movie auditions. His quest for fame and importance made him continue even when directors and movie producers would reject him. This did not stop him. He continued going for auditions whenever and wherever.
Later, he rose to prominence. This was after he starred alongside late Sam Loco Efe in the blockbuster movie “Apama.” His journey to prominence started after his performance in this movie.
He mostly acts in comedy movies more than any other genre. Usually, he acts alongside Chiwetalu Agu, Osita Iheme, Charles Inojie, Late Sam Loco Efe, Victor Charles Awurum grew up in Lagos State and had aspirations to be a professional actor whilst from a young age. He wrote to the producers of Village Headmaster (discontinued Nigerian soap opera) that he aspired to be part of the soap opera cast. Eventually he got an invitation from the producers, but could not feature on the show due to his young age and minimal support from the people and his local community. He stuck to acting drama in church as well as his school he attended.Osuagu, John Okafor, among others.
