Bindow started his primary education at Mubi 1 Primary School in 1971 and completed it in 1978. He then proceeded to Science Secondary School Hong in 1978 and later transferred to Government Secondary School, Mangu, in Plateau State in 1981 and completed his secondary education in 1983.
He travelled to Great Britain in 1984 for his tertiary education and obtained an Advanced Certificate in Business Studies from the City College of Higher Education London, in 1985 and capped it all with a Diploma in Business Studies from the same school.

On returning back to Nigeria, Bindow plunged into the growing private sector armed with his business knowledge. He went on to hold several executive positions in several establishments including, Director of the Highland Bank of Nigeria Plc, Director ALFA-MORA Merchandise Nigeria Limited, JIB Insurance Company Nigeria Limited, Dadingel-Baobab Nigeria Limited, International Business Trade Oriented Nigeria limited and Nexus Communications Limited. He was also the Executive Director Jimpex Energy service Limited and Chairman of Jimpex International and Pinnacle Automations Limited.
He established several high profile business ventures which include Bindow Vegetable Oil Industries, Bindowo Agro-Allied Limited, Bindo Soap and Bindo Aluminum Industries.
Bindow made his entry into politics in 2003 when he contested for the Governorship position of Adamawa state on the platform of the National Democratic Party (NDP) but was unsuccessful.
In the year 2011, he was elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Adamawa North Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), however his candidature was unsuccessfully disputed by the then incumbent, Senator Muhammed Mana who lost several court appeals to depose Bindow from his elected position.
At the Senate, he was both active and visible as the Vice-Chairman of the powerful Senate Committee on Defence and Army. He was elected into the sub-regional parliament for the West African sub-region (ECOWAS).
As a member of the ECOWAS Parliament he was also made Vice-Chairman Committee on Health. He also served on the committee on Airforce, Science and Technology, Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions as well as in the Senate Services Committee.
Realizing his immense potentials in business practice, the Senate made him a member of the Capital Market Committee. He is also a member of the Nigeria-Rwanda Friendship Group aimed at promoting parliamentary democracy and Diplomacy for mutual development of the peoples of the two countries.
In the 2015 general elections, Bindow contested and won the governorship election in Adamawa state on the platform of the All Peoples Congress (APC) defeating Mallam Nuhu Ribadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
