Jigawa PDP Gov’ship Candidate Parleys APC Senator
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, Mustapha Sule Lamido, has widened his consultations with stakeholders across party lines to garner support ahead of next year’s general elections.
Daily Trust reports that Lamido on Wednesday met with Senator Danladi Sankara, an All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker from the state, at the senator’s residence in Abuja during which the duo had discussions.
Sankara was a stalwart of the PDP and represented Jigawa North West between 2011 and 2015 before he joined the APC. There has been a cold war between Senator Sankara and Governor Muhammad Badaru of the state since the aftermath of the APC primary election for the zone.
The Abuja meeting came on the heels of rumours that the senator may dump the ruling party.
Speaking on the visit, an aide to Lamido, Mansur Ahmed, said Sankara was one of “the fathers of the state” who Lamido deemed important to consult in his quest to govern the state.
