South African Police Service (SAPS) Recruitment Update

To present, 1,146 police stations around the country have received 517,000 applications.

Candidates who meet the basic recruitment standards are currently through extensive screening procedures to assess their suitability to serve as men and women in blue.

Psychometric testing, an evaluation that tries to measure an applicant’s traits such as IQ, aptitude, and personality has already been completed by 63,000 of the candidates.

Those who meet the SAPS’s requirements will also be subjected to physical fitness tests and a final medical check.

Recruiting and selecting the best applicants to serve as police officers is critical to the SAPS’ ability to continue to fulfill its mission.

This recruitment procedure aims to ensure that only qualified candidates are chosen on merit, and that it is free of bias, nepotism, and discrimination.

The recruitment process is overseen by a board comprised of SAPS top management as well as external stakeholders, including community members, to maintain transparency.

South African Police Service Application Form 2023

Candidates who passed their psychometric testing examinations will receive an automated short message service (SMS) from the South African Police Service informing them that they should contact their recruitment office.

These applicants are urged to inquire about the nearest recruitment office at their local police station. Those who have applied and are waiting for a response are asked to be patient during this time.

Applicants should consider their application rejected if they have not received any formal communication from the Service within three months of the closing date.

SAPS Recruitment Application Process

SAPS successful candidates who have completed and passed all three assessments will be contacted in writing and over the phone.

Applicants are also advised to seek out information about the application procedure at their local police station.

“The large number of applications received reassures us that young people are willing to contribute to the battle against crime.” Young people in South Africa are willing to serve and protect the people.

We will, however, only pick candidates on the basis of merit after they have passed all the assessment stages.

“These young people will be considered as force multipliers in the fight against crime,” said Lt Gen Bonang Mgwenya, the SAPS’s Deputy National Commissioner for Human Resources Management.

During this process, the SAPS wishes all applicants luck.

SAPS Recruitment Closing Date 2023

The South African Police Service (SAPS) thanks teenagers between the ages of 18 and 30 from the Republic of South Africa (RSA) for expressing an interest in joining the SAPS.

In May of this year, the Service launched a nationwide recruiting drive for the Basic Police Learning Development Program (BLDP) intake of 2023.

After the Application Forms are released, applications will close. It should also be emphasized that until the recruitment procedure for 2023 begins, the Service will not accept any additional applications.
