Early Life and Education
Richard Mofe-Damijo was born in Aladja community of Udu Kingdom, near Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. He attended Midwest College, Warri, and Anglican Grammar School and was a member of the Drama Club.
Moreover, After completing his basic education (Primary and Secondary School), Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) enrolled in the University of Benin to continue his education and studied Theatre Arts.
In 1997 Mofe-Damijo returned to the university to study law at the University of Lagos and graduated in 2004 with a Master’s Degree in Law.
Career
Following graduation, Mofe-Damijo appeared in the soap opera Ripples but he rose to prominence as the villain Segun Kadiri in the rival drama Checkmate.
He has previously worked as a writer for Concord Newspapers Metro Magazine and Quality. Out of Bounds was his first movie in which he was credited as a writer and producer. Mofe-Damijo was named Best Actor in a Leading Role at the African Movie Academy Awards for the first time in 2005. He and Nigerian journalist, Mimi Fawaz co-hosted the 2016 GLO-CAF Awards on January 5, 2017. He received a Black Star Honor at the Rhymes on Da Runway in Gold Coast, Ghana event on December 8, 2021.

RMD was married to his long time girlfriend, Mary Ellen Ezekiel, until her death in 1996. The marriage produced two children including his first son, Oghenekome Mofe Damijo. In 2000, RMD got married again to Jumobi Mofe-Damijo (Nee Adegbesan) and the marriage is currently blessed with two beautiful kids.
Not so long ago, RMD became a grandfather as his first son, Oghenekome and wife, gave birth to their daughter, and later to a son. RMD is currently one of the richest and most influential actor in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $7 million.
