Regina Askia was born in Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria on 17th may 1967.
Regina Askia Education
Regina Askia attended the Federal Government Girls’ College in Calabar, Nigeria where she obtained her West African Examination Council Certificate (WAEC/SSCE) in 1985.
She proceeded to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and graduated in 1990.
While at the University of Lagos, she was crowned the Miss University of Lagos in 1988.
In the same year, she contested in other beauty pageants such as the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) 1988 and Miss Intercontinental Pageant.
However, she emerged the second runner-up in the former but would later become the titleholder after Bianca Onoh resigned.
She would later proceed to train as a Nurse in New York, USA where she obtained a second degree in Nursing Sciences at CUNY College of Staten Island. Also, she obtained her Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Wagner College, Staten Island, New York.
Regina Askia Career
Askia runs a Campaign for Nurse Development by activating for capital and skills investment in Nigerian Nurses through a meaningful skills exchange programs with Nigerian nurses in the diaspora. The Campaign features medical missions and several Nurse training programs in Nigeria. She currently sits on the board of African Views an NGO as director of health programs and presents a global reach Internet radio program which focuses on the myriad of health issues on the African continent and amongst its Diaspora .
As a beauty queen, Askia held the Office of the most beautiful girl in Nigeria in 1989. She placed First Runner Up in Russia’s Miss Charm in 1990 and represented Nigeria in a great outing at Miss International 1991, Osaka, Japan. Her office as a beauty queen came with travels around the world experiencing peoples and cultures. Her career path in the 90s as a television producer/model featured her in several advertising and promotional campaigns. This ushered in national acclaim when she featured as the unforgettable Gold digger Tokunbo Johnson in NTAs (Nigerian Television Authorities) soap opera Mega Fortunes. Miss Askia went on to star in several Nollywood films which were featured throughout Nigeria and across countries in Africa. Askia has produced several programs in Health and Beauty and subsequently a soap opera Cankerworm .
Personal Life
Regina Askia-Williams is married to Rudolph “Rudy” Williams, an American who is the grandson of Fess Williams and the nephew of Ron Everette.
The couple has two children: Teesa Olympia and Rudolph Junior. She has a daughter, Stephanie Hornecker, a model in her previous marriage.
