PHOTOS: Buhari Receives Award For Promoting Peace In Africa
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023, received an award for “strengthening peace in Africa”, Naija News reports.
The Nigerian leader was given the award in Mauritania yesterday by the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum.
Buhari departed the shores of Nigeria for Nouakchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, on Monday, January 16, for the peace award.
In a statement made available to newsmen earlier, the Special Adviser to the President on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, said the award would be conferred on Buhari for his leadership role in promoting peace on the African continent, through regular inventions, counsels, and conciliatory positions.
understands that the Forum for Peace was founded in Abu Dhabi in 2015 and was dedicated to strengthening Islamic narratives of peace-building and tolerance in a world of religious pluralism.
Present at the award event were Mohamed Ghazouani, president of Mauritania; Abdallah Bin Bayyah, president of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies; and Al Mahfoudh Bin Bayyah, secretary-general of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Promoting Peace.
