OnePlus Merges with Oppo, Promises ‘Faster and More Stable Software Updates’

One Plus is merging with Oppo, the two companies are owned by BBK Electronics and have been sharing resources together even though they operate as separate entities.

One Plus CEO Pete Lau made the announcement after taking on a bigger role that involves running OnePlus and Oppo together.

“As many of you know, last year I took on some additional responsibilities to oversee product strategy for both OnePlus and OPPO,” Lau announced in an official forum post. “Since then, we have integrated a number of our teams together with OPPO to better streamline our operations and capitalize on additional shared resources.

After seeing positive impact from those changes, we’ve decided to further integrate our organization with OPPO,” he explained.

Pete Lau believes the merger will allow OnePlus have access to “more resources at hand to create even better products for you”. Since the two teams have been working together for a while before the merger,

Pete believes the deeper integration is the right way to go. He also said the integration “will also allow us to be more efficient, for example, bringing faster and more stable software updates for OnePlus users.”

Despite the merger, OnePlus will continue to operate independently and also launch products, hold events and reply to its customers via the same channels as before.
