Wunmi Toriola born with the name Olawunmi Toriola, is a Nigerian film actress, producer, filmmaker, and television personality.
Olawunmi Toriola is well-known for her roles in Nigerian Nollywood blockbusters such as Eto, Obinrin, and Ajewumi. She first appeared in the film “Isese Lagba,” which was produced by Tawa Ajisefini. Isese Lagba was the movie that brought the beautiful Yoruba actress to the limelight.
Because of her strength, vigor, and the spice she brings to acting and movie production, she has become a household name.
Early Life and Education
Wunmi Toriola was born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Toriola on July 11, 1988, in Lagos State, Nigeria. The actress was born into a family of four, she lost her mum at a tender age and she grew up with her father. She went to secondary school in Lagos and she is a native of Ogun State, Nigeria.
Wunmi graduated with a degree in Linguistics at the University of Ilorin and also graduated with a Diploma in Theatre Arts from Odunfa Caucus a Yoruba theatre organization founded by some industry veterans like Yinka Quadri, Taiwo Hassan, among others.
Career
Olawunmi Toriola began her career in the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, in 2009 at Odunfa Caucus.
Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), Sunny Ali, Yinka Quadri, Razak Ajao, and Abbey Lanre founded the Yoruba theater group “Odunfa Caucus.”
Wunmi Toriola has been in the Nigerian film industry for over a decade, winning the “Fastest Rising Actress (Yoruba)” award at the City People Awards in 2018.
Olawunmi has produced thirteen films so far since she began producing in 2012, with “Ajewumi” being the film that first brought her to prominence. Together, she has appeared in over 100 films and counting mostly movies in her native Yoruba Language.
Personal Life
Wunmi Toriola got married to a US-based man who she met on Facebook on the 13th of May, 2018. Her husband’s name remains unknown to the public, the couple had their first son in December 2019 who is named Zion.
