Bayegun Oluwatoyin Adesanya Abimbola popularly known as Woli Arole is a Nigerian comedian, actor and also a Master of ceremony (MC). Woli Arole is one of the top Nigerian comedian with a distinctive style of comedy delivery, He rose to fame on Instagram after posting videos of himself preaching the gospel in comical ways reminiscent of local prophets.
Education
Woli Arole was born in the city of Ibadan, Nigeria. He had his primary education in Olopade Agoro Apata, Ibadan, and his secondary school education was at Government College, Ibadan. He proceeded to the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University where he studied psychology. He also obtained a degree in filmmaking in 2020 from the Met Film School in the UK.
Career
Woli Arole began at the church. He joined the drama group at each church he attended.
Woli Arole began comedy at Obafemi Awolowo University as an undergraduate in the 100 Level in 2008/2009 and was one of the top acts during his time there. He went on to further his career as a comedian after graduating from university and has since risen in the industry.
His big break came in 2016, when he won the second edition of Alibaba’s Spontaneity Competition. He then released a viral video in which he attacked UNILORIN students. Students at the institution also responded, and Woli Arole has since continued to make short comedy skits online.
He embraced social media and gained popularity through short Instagram videos. He auditioned for and was a finalist in the Alibaba Spontaneity competition in Lagos.
Personal Life
Woli Arole married Yemi, his longtime lover, after six years of dating. The couple married in April 2021 in a glamorous wedding ceremony attended by DJ Neptune, Mr Macaroni, Lateef Adedimeji, and other celebrities.
