A few days ago, the Federal Government made it mandatory for every Nigerian to link their National Identity Number (NIN) to their mobile network within two weeks or face their numbers being blocked. Considering we are in the middle of a global pandemic and holiday period; one would think the government would give its citizens more time to carry out this exercise.
The good news is that local service providers in Nigeria have made it possible to link NIN to mobile numbers without having to visit their offices; while the bad news is that a lot of Nigerians do not have their NIN numbers yet.

How to Link NIN to MTN
All MTN subscribers must link their NIN number with their SIM card to avoid blockage by 30th, December 2020.
• If you have registered before for NIMC and you have forgotten your number, dial *346# to retrieve your NIN.
To link NIN with MTN number, visit MTN NIN page or dial 785NIN#. Follow the on-screen instructions and you are good to go.
How to Link NIN to 9Mobile
• If you have registered before for NIMC and you have forgotten your number, dial *346# to retrieve your NIN.
To link NIN with 9Mobile number, visit 9mobile NIN page or dial 2008#. Follow the on-screen instructions and you are good to go.
How to Link NIN to Airtel
• If you have registered before for NIMC and you have forgotten your number, dial *346# to retrieve your NIN.
To link NIN with Airtel number, visit Airtel NIN page or dial 1211#. Follow the on-screen instructions and you are good to go.
How to Link NIN to Globacom
• If you have registered before for NIMC and you have forgotten your number, dial *346# to retrieve your NIN.
To link NIN with Glo number, visit Glo NIN page or send “UpdateNIN NIN FirstName LastName” to 109. Follow the on-screen instructions and you are good to go.
